Meon Valley Cycle Hire can suggest short self-guided tours in some of the most attractive countryside in South Hampshire and Isle of Wight.
Spend
a night on the coast then head up either the Hamble or Meon Valleys and onto
the 100 mile South Downs Way- National Trail. Spend a night on the Downs then
head onto either Winchester* or Petersfield* for a linear route, or back to
the coast on a circular ride. Alternatively spend a few days on 'Bicycle Island'
touring round as many sights as you wish to take in. (* Main line railway
stations.)
Using cycle friendly Bed & Breakfast accommodation on the coast and inland- all close to your chosen route, we can suggest circular or linear options of between 25 to 60 miles, using a high percentage of off-road trails.
Prices are indicative and based on 2 people sharing a room with private facilities

Our locality: 'The South Downs Way is characterised by rolling chalk grassland, deep dry valleys, and extensive views over the Weald to the north and the sea to the south. The western end of the South Downs Way is at the historic and well preserved city of Winchester, capital of King Alfred the Great. In Hampshire the landscape is a rolling countryside of mixed farming and small woodlands. The Meon Valley is particularly attractive, with the superb Iron Age hill fort of Old Winchester Hill and the Meon Valley Villages both well worth a visit.
The villages of the Meon valley provide beautiful examples of downland hamlets. The long association with their rural past and historic buildings make them wonderful places to wander round. East Meon is a particular good example.'
